December 10, 2011, 10 am – 4 pm: Glass Painting demonstration at the Artisans Courtyard
A specialized glass painting technique will be demonstrated by an accomplished local artist, LauraLea Marlyn-Spitler, in the Artisans Courtyard third "Winterlude" demonstration of live arts and artisanal work. She will create works of art based on applying different colors on a single brush. Using this technique with different shaped brushes and painting strokes, the colors blend on the glass surface, creating a two color effect. She will further demonstrate ways to adhere the paint onto glass so that the painted surface can be washed without worry of chipping. This technique can be used on any paintable surface, with any type of paint.
LauraLea Marlyn-Spitler is an artist specializing in pencil, charcoal and graphite landscapes, wildlife, and portraits. She is owner of the Dayton's Art by LauraLea gallery, located in the Artisans Courtyard. She is president of Arts and Business Connection of Dayton, overseeing arts-related community learning, "artisan trails" planning, and beautification initiatives.
