Water Treatment Plant

The Town of Dayton Water Treatment Facility, located on Bowman Road, provides potable water to approximately 650 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.  On average, the facility treats 2 million gallons of water a day; source water for the facility is supplied from three groundwater wells and one spring.  The town has one clear well, which holds approximately 2.5 million gallons of potable water and one elevated tank, which holds 250,000 gallons of potable water.  In addition to water storage, the purpose of a clear well is to allow for chlorine contact time for disinfection.

The Water Treatment Plant currently uses a MEMCOR microfiltration system and is in the process of upgrading to a PALL system.  The PALL system is a similar microfiltration system, but with improved equipment.  Raw water comes into the plant from the wells and moves through the pressurized microfiltration system where suspended particles in the water are trapped in pore sized membranes.  The water leaving the filters is then treated with chlorine gas for disinfection purposes, and fluoride for healthy teeth.
